PNP: Martha Stewart's Teacup Pincushion

Pumps and Needles: teacup pincushion
Hi everyone!

I have been working at my student's job for a few days again this week (I am in the host group of my university, which means we help hosting official university events, which is very fun to do!), so I haven't had much time to think about what I wanted to post or to make something new to show you. But then I thought, why wouldn't I share things that I've made in the past but still use and love? So today I am showing you my pincushion! It is on my sewing table permanently, and I use it everytime I make something.

I was browsing one day and came across these very cute teacup pincushions that Martha Stewart had made on her show. I thought they were so adorable, and since I didn't have a pincushion back then but found myself in need of one, why not make one of those? For the full tutorial, click HERE.

In the picture up close, you can see that I added a little detail, and embroidered little stars around the edge of the 'saucer'.

Tomorrow I am making a card for my parents' anniversary and I plan to blog it soon, since I want to enter it in the CASE study challenge, so you'll probably find me here tomorrow afternoon!

Love,
Birgit

A Pintastic Week - 07.09.2014

Hi there!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Today I finally tackled my pile of 'to mend/repair' clothes, yay for me! It were all small things, like attaching a button, or mending small holes in sweaters, but somehow those are the things that lay around for longer than I care to admit, until I find the courage to do it all at once.. Hah, anyway, there has been another week of pinning, and these are my favourites this time:

1. Stunning as always... A midnight blue gown by Zac Posen

2. What a beautiful burgundy coat!

3. The person receiving this birthday card is so lucky.

4. Sarah M. Dorsey made a tutorial for these geometric pencil cups.

5. I'm getting hungry again looking at these: cookie cakes by Oh Happy Day!

PNP: Simon Says... STAMPtember Ice Cream Card

Hi everyone!

This week's challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog is to use a rubber or clear stamp to create a card. So I made this card using a small ice cream cone stamp to create the background and coloured a few with pencil.
To create the look of a chalkboard, I picked grey paper and wrote the sentiment by hand with a white pencil.

See you tomorrow for a round-up of this week's favourite pins!

PNP: Thanks

Hi everyone!

I'm finally done with exams, and have some more vacation right now, yay!
There are a lot of things on my list to do, such as finally make my mom that dress that I promised her... It actually scares me, as it will be the first time I will sew something for someone that is not me.
I also hope I can take some pictures (or have them taken) of some of the things I've sewn over the past few months, now that the weather is finally good.

Today I want to share this card I made for someone that made the exam period more bearable for my friends and myself (we also bought her flowers).

The circle and the sentiment were cut with my Silhouette Portrait, the banners were cut freehanded. I used chalk to add some colour underneath the circle, to make it more contrasting with the background.

Have a great day!

A Pintastic Week - 22.06.2014

Hi!

I know, it has been awfully long since I wrote another post. I have been so busy with activities outside university and exams that I didn't have inspiration nor felt like writing a blog post...

So, I'm trying to get it rolling again. I'm finishing a pair of shorts, so you can expect them sometime within the next two weeks (I still have two more exams to go, so no time for pictures right now). I thought I'd start with a simple post and share some of my favourite pins with you again.

1. I really liked this article on Refinery29 about how to dress if you have a big bust.

2. I must admit, I am jealous of ChiWei's amazing card catalogs that she uses to store her craft supplies (and the rest of her craft room as well).

3. This cross body bag from Burda is very cute, and the best part is, the pattern is free!

 4. Kristina Bazan looks breathtaking in her V Label London dress...

This is it for today, please keep your fingers crossed for me!
