A Pintastic Week - 29.12.2014

Hey guys!

This is this year's last Pintastic Week, can you believe how quickly a year passes? Anyway, I have some beauties for you again!

I want to start by thanking the lovely Cindy for featuring my Mustang Card on her blog, I'm so flattered!

I found a lot of beautiful handmade garments again, and these are a couple of them: Jolies Bobines made an incredible jumpsuit, I especially love the pleats on the bodice! Nikki made a pair of perfect cropped trousers on Beauté J'adore and look at the velvet Christmas dress that Lauren made! I also LOVED the BHL Kim dress that Mary made, that fabric is just perfection.
Thread Theory released a new pattern for a women's blouse, and I think it's amazing, it's casual yet very feminine, I like the flow of it, in short, I'd love to have that pattern!

Here are 18 ways to spice up your hot chocolate, which would be perfect to accompany this great-looking Igloo cake!

When I will move out and get my own place, I'm going to need a home library to put away all my books (and have room for more haha).

And to stay within the festive vibe, I loved MadDesign's festive beaded earrings and I think Blair kills it with this outfit on Atlantic Pacific.

That's it for this week's roundup, I hope you enjoyed it!

See you soon!

Pin // Make: cord organizer arrow - belated November edition

Hi there!

I hope you all had, or are still having, wonderful Christmas days with family and friends!

As I promised earlier this week, I'm finally sharing my November Pin // Make project, being the great arrow cord organizers that Mette from Monsterscircus made. The only thing I did differently from her tutorial, is that I sewed around the arrow shape, because I liked the look of it. Other than that, I just followed her tutorial. I'd say you should give it a try, they are super easy to make and they look great!
I made it as a small present for a friend who bought an appartment recently, and I made a card to go with it.

Thanks to Elia for taking the pictures!

See you on Sunday for my weekly roundup!

Pin // Make: Christmas Wrapping

Hi there!

I figured I'd better not wait with this post until Christmas is over. My December Pin // Make (the November one is coming soon, I promise!) is my take on this tutorial that A Beautiful Mess made on how to make professional looking gift bags. I didn't make any handles, but taped it shut at the top so you couldn't see what's inside and I think it makes a perfect gift bag for somewhat larger presents.

I did feel that the plain bag was rather boring, so I decorated it a little with cut out (thank you Silhouette Portrait) reindeers (from Miss Kate Cuttables) and stars.

I made something else to wrap a little gift for my sister (not telling what it is in case she reads this):

Pumps and Needles: gingerbread man gift box
Isn't he cute?? He didn't work out entirely as I wanted to - you can see I smudged a little with the glue (which is not this visible in natural light), and the strips around the sides were slightly too big. I did adjust that on the bottom part, but the glue on the lid had already dried and I didn't want to take it apart then. His buttons and eyes are little rhinestones that I painted with nailpolish, and the cutting file is from SVG Cuts, who are currently offering this in a free set of five patterns!

Happy wrapping!

A Pintastic Week - 21.12.2014

Image via Devon Rachel

Hi guys!

Time for another round-up, and because Christmas is around the corner, I decided to stick within the theme, and treat you with a bunch of links.

NAILS

In the Fair Isle print category, check out these amazing mani's from Chelsea Queen and Coewless Nail Polish
No Christmas without a tree, right? Hop on over to these ladies' pages to see different options, each one equally fabulous: watermarble tree on Adventures in Acetone, black and glitter on Fairly Charming, a tree and snowmen on Work Play Polish, a burgundy and gold on Bottle of Happiness, a gold dotted tree on One Nail Rules Them All and a mix and match mani on So Nailicious.
If you like glitter, be sure to check out The Lacquerologist and The Crumpet and finally, for something quirky, go see Adventure in Acetone's reindeer mani.

DECOR

In the tablesetting department, I love these DIY wire placecard holders on A Beautiful Mess, this doily tree centerpiece from Twoje DIY and I Heart Naptime's moss and candle centerpiece.
Decorate your walls with a DIY geometric himmeli wreath as seen on Vintage Revivals, or hang your wreath around a faux deer head for that little extra glam, like on The Home Depot.
For some smaller items, try these pine cone trees from Scissors and Spoons, a cute geometric snowman from MiniEco or these porcelain holiday tree lights from A Beautiful Mess.

WRAPPING IDEAS

Damask Love made a bunch of tutorials in the last month, and I really like this simple Christmas tree treat box and her holiday wreath gift box. Other cute ways to wrap your gifts: little tree boxes on Oh My Fiesta!, beautiful forest bordered goodie bags on Just ME and twist top snowflake boxes on Extreme Cards.
And if your gifts are already neatly wrapped, but you just need tags, click on the following links for some great free printables: Curly Made, jumbo tags and reindeer tags at Eat Drink Chic, bauble tags on Fellow Fellow and a few different ones at Skip To My Lou.

That's it for today! See you later this week!

A Pintastic Week - 14.12.2014

Hi there!

I can finally write again! I haven't been able to use my laptop in a while (due to a program I had to run for my thesis which made everything else impossible) but I am back again! I am planning on writing a few Christmas-themed posts, and I still have my Pin // Make project from November that I didn't share yet - so I didn't forget!
I'm also rethinking this post a bit, I'm not sharing all the pictures in my post again, mainly because I read a few stories about copyright infringement, even if you link back properly and I don't want to risk that. So from now on I'll share one picture that I really liked that week and then put my favourite links underneath. Here we go!

 Vogue US December 2014 - via Honestly...WTF

1. Who can resist gold and sparkle on a beautiful card like this one by Amy Sheffer?

2. This Pingu cake by Coco Cake Land is so cute and just brings up childhood memories...

3. Linda made a roundup of four winter drinks on Call Me Cupcake, and I'm craving some hot chocolate right now!

4. I recently discovered Dita Von Teese's clothing line, and this dress is on my wishlist.

5. I love the look of these super chunky knit throws featured on Honestly...WTF.

That's it for today! See you later this week!

Burda Vintage Autumn/Winter 2014

Hi!

When I went to the local newspaper shop to pick up my copy of the latest Burdastyle issue, I saw that they had a special, Burda Vintage, with 12 patterns based on original Burda 50s patterns. I decided to buy it as I am a huge fan of 50s fashion, and I'm really happy that I did!

Although I sometimes liked the original better than the interpretation, there are enough patterns I love to make this buy worth it. Another lovely feature is the stories about the garments along with a beautiful vintage drawing of the original pattern that are shared and pictures of 50s style muses such as Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn. They also provide styling tips for the garments.

I thought I'd share some of the garments that I really like.

This coat is super chic, especially in white.

How I love this romper with the overskirt, I already know which fabric I want to use for the romper, and the skirt is one of my favourite styles.

This jacket is inspired by a classic Cristóbal Balenciaga silhouette.

A jumper that closes at the back, with a belt to accentuate the waist.

And the last one I wanted to share, a special occasion dress with bows. I think it's a stunning dress, although I'm not really sure about the fabric choice.

All images were found on burdastyle.com.

What do you think? Would you make any of the patterns in this issue?

PNP: Mustang card

Hi there!

Today I want to share the card I made for my dad's birthday. The Mustang has always been his favourite car and a few weeks ago, we went to see the exhibition of 50 years of Mustang. So what better than a Mustang card for his birthday?

I used this art piece by TomSimo to trace with the Silhouette Studio software and make this card, for personal use only of course.

I also did a little sewing lately, so hopefully I can take some pictures soon to share with you!

Sewing inspiration from VILA

Hi!

I was browsing the VILA website and came across a few of their garments that I think I might be able to sew, I'm sure there are some patterns in my pile of Burda magazines that would be perfect.

Which items would you want to add to your closet?

PNP: Motorcycle Card and Cake Topper

Hi there!

I was browsing through pictures and stumbled upon the card and cake topper I made for father's day this year. Somehow I forgot to share it...

My dad is a big fan of motorcycles, he's been driving one for twenty years now, so I wanted to go that way when making him a card for father's day.
When I found this motorcycle card cutting file by Bird, I knew it was perfect (although not the type of motorcycle he drives).

For the cake topper, I used the logo that is used for the motorcycle part of the Brussels Auto Salon, as it is a vector and thus easy to cut out.
He loved it!

Pin//Make : Relaxing gift

Hi everyone!

You know how you keep pinning things, thinking 'oh, I have to make this!', and then never make it? It's what happens to me all the time. I have pinned a lot of beautiful things (in my opinion ;) ) but I procrastinate making those things and instead just pin more stuff. So I thought it was time for a new series of posts, in which I make something that I have pinned. I will start with once a month, since I have to write a thesis too, and see how it goes.

Last weekend, I was invited at a friend's, like I mentioned in a previous post, and I actually made two things that I once pinned, so there we go!
I made her a 'relaxing' gift, which included a scented candle (not self-made, just store-bought), a sleeping mask, a bottle of wine and a personalised wine glass.

These are the pins:

- a clever, personalised wine glass by EtchedExpressions on Etsy

- this gorgeous sleeping mask by Ohhh Lulu

And here is what I made (I'm sorry for the bad quality of the pictures, I took them in a rush with no natural light..):

I also made her a card. I adore the Magnolia stamp, so I decided to use it again.

I hope you like it!

Love,
Birgit

A Pintastic Week - 5.10.2014

Hi there!

By the time I finish writing this, we will technically no longer be the 5th October, but well, at this point we still are, so it's not really cheating, is it?

So here we go:

1. I love this look from the Mugler Spring 2015 runway show.

2. A watercolour world map. So pretty!

3. Debbie always makes beautiful cards, and this one is no exception.

Lime Doodle Design Christmas wreath card

4. I love the bit of cheekiness that this sweater has going on.

Apparently I'm getting good at my round-ups, I've never written one so quickly... Or maybe it's because I just didn't have such a hard time to pick this week. Anyway, I'm proud to say that when I'll hit 'publish', we're still the 5th October!

Have a great week!

Magnolia Birthday Card

Hi everyone!

A good friend of mine is celebrating her birthday tomorrow, so I made here a card, obviously. I took it as an opportunity to finally use one of my Magnolia stamps I have laying around.

Pumps and Needles: magnolia birthday card

I created the background by painting pink and grey strokes with watercolour. I first drew some pencil lines so the lines would be evenly separated.
I stamped the Magnolia girl figure on a piece of white paper, coloured her with pencils, and filled in the background with chalk. I chose grey paper to form a bit of contrast with the figure, and added some sequins for a little sparkle.

I have another friend's birthday coming up on Saturday, for whom I am making a handmade gift, so you'll find that here in a couple of days!

Have a nice day!

Love,
Birgit
